Termination Thursday

Weather supposed to be mid 50's and cloudy on Thursday.
Maybe getting out of the freezing rut finally.

Years ago as a beginning industrial electrician, I saw a mistake in the prints I was working with. I tried to tell the engineer that drew them up about the mistake (print showed 120 VAC being wired to what was obviously a 24VDC Allen Bradley PLC rack), to no avail so I wired it as drawn and when the panel was powered up, it blew up or blew out about $10,000 worth of components. Tried to tell the moron, but guess who lost their job.

TOTD: What was the stupidest or silliest reason you ever lost a job?

TOTD: The only time I was ever fired the asshole made me come into work when I was sick and then said I was willfully disobeying instructions because I could not stop coughing. I won wrongful dismissal for that one.

The dumb ass wanted to know why I was leaving early, It was actually a combined flip to every factory boss I've ever had. It was a freedom flip after 25 years behind machine tools making some other asswipe rich.
It was the flip that started me in business for myself.

TOTD: Never lost a job. I've quit two for higher paying jobs, but that's it.

I've quit many, some for less money and some for more money and have been fired twice. I've been Blessed all my life for being able to have jobs that I love, and when that love ends, I quickly find another.

Once was a car dealership that was going belly up. The owner sent me an email while I was under doctor's car for nasty bronchitis (it would not go away, caught it from a customer who was coughing non-stop on a test drive) I got well, returned to work, we were hit with freezing rain, was sick again...then the email. He didn't even wait until I came back to work. Now his daddy sold the dealership and I'm pretty sure I make more money then he does in about half the hours...:p I'm still friends with the guy, that is just the car business...especially 2nd generation..hard to run a business sucking on a silver spoon.. He never had a computer or email in his office until I worked for him the second time in 2004....yes, the owner of a car dealership did not have a computer in his office. Well, he was the 51% owner until his dad had to step back in due to default...I was fired in 2005...six months later they were asking me to come back!!! I passed.

The second time...was in 2008 when I found out I had medical issues from a work related accident. I called and asked for light duty, I got a voice mail when I was at the doctors office saying I was fired. The doctor listened to the voice mail and included it in my chart notes. :D I moved to Nevada while on workman's comp & took the first job I applied for once a really good doctor got me feeling better...my job search took me ten minutes. It looks like I might end up having surgery for this same injury..but if that's the case I'm ready to get it done and over with.

Threatened to kick a union punk's ass after he lied to the construction boss about me. Was told they did not need me the following day and the day after. Told the boss, you do not need me period. Should have looked the union dude up though.

I have never been fired from a job. The few times I have quit jobs I was always told if I ever wanted to reconsider and come back there would be a place for me. I've been very blessed in that respect.
