Happy birthday to my sweet little dog. She could have been a contender. :D
I picked her up in St Joseph, Mo. at a greyhound gathering at a farm owned by some folks into greyhound rescue. Good friends brought her from Wichita, Kansas, so St Joseph was the halfway point. Some folks had a greyhound "showbiz" act. They are the Gilleys, who travel the US with their large RV and their troupe of greyt doggie performers.
They took one look at Darlene and said they'd love her for their act and for their family. They have all black females in their little group, that do things like doggie Evil Knievel (one dog jumps over the backs of about 5 dogs standing still). They jump through hoops and do other little tricks that delight the hearts of greyhound owners.
Darlene is a smart, quick learning dog. She has a wonderful temperament. She was excellent as a therapy dog, as she always would give the folks at the nursing home a kiss and put her head in their laps.
Happy birthday to my St Patricks day princess.
