It is a shame that liberals like you do not understand the plan; lefties want the majority to be dependent on the government along with wealth distribution. One day it will sink in but by that time it will be too late because we all know that people will vote for the person that will give them more and more free shit.
EuroPEONS have smaller commute distances and live close to home. We have a culture of driving and an economy developed on cheap fuel and large commute distances.

My daily commute to work is 35 miles one way. Either we all live like ant people (or Koreans) on top of one another, or we will eventually have to develop subsistence closer to home.

No what it actually is...is a push to force people to take the train or the bus and not own cars.

Owning and driving a car is a symbol of freedom and independence to Americans.

Socialism doesn't allow for independence or freedom.

Best way to break down the independent spirit of your average American...take their car away.

Well, I actually like public transportation. If I lived in DC or New York, I wouldn't own a car. People are entitled to their opinion though.

I do agree that it's going to push people to use public transportation whether they have a good public transformational system or not. That stinks.

I don't understand why we can't have a government in the middle. Have a government that helps out the poor, but doesn't act like a nanny state. We used to have that.

The more we help out the lazy, mothers with bastard children, the more they become dependent on the government. I am not against helping out the poor. I donate to food banks and the Salvation Army on a regular basis but we need to start cutting off benefits. Old, sick and a mother with one child get gov. help. The second, third, fourth, etc bastard child is on her. I am tired of these free loaders thinking that they are entitlled to more and more free shit.

Lovely. How about communities like mine, with NO public transportation?

I live outside a town with 900 maybe. What are we supposed to do?

We could say they are spending like drunken sailors. That would be unfair to drunken sailors, they're spending their OWN money.

Why shouldn't it be? Do we really want an increase of people on the streets asking people for money? I find the idea of complete capitalism with no safety net to be scary.

Churches and charities had that role long before the Feds were even dreamt up ;)

Most churches and charities cannot keep somebody helped out until they get back on their feet. Keep in mind I said until they get back on their feet, not to live on forever.

And I love how charities do food drives at Christmas time, as if people only need food then.
