Pet Peeves:
People who argue with you on something that is a stone cold fact.
<ring ring>
"Hello"
"Is Stacy there?"
"I'm sorry, you have the wrong number."
"No I don't"
"Um, yeah you do."
"C'mon, put Stacy on."
"You have the wrong number fuckwad"
"Wow, you didn't have to cuss at me."
You're driving along and you see a car trying to turn onto the road. You have no one behind you. And not only do they pull out, they cut you off. You beep, and they flip you off.
Howard Johnson's owner/manager in Florence South Carolina.
I checked in at 11 PM and unloaded an entire pick up of stuff including luggage and bicycles and a 12 year old girl who needed to get ready for bed. About a half hour later, it's pretty clear that the air conditioning is not working in this "non smoking (since yesterday maybe) room. The desk clerk was very nice, and gave us the room next door, which was clean and the AC worked. BTW, at the time I was still smoking but outside because of the kid, and even I could tell that these rooms had been smoking rooms in the past.
So, I go to check out the next day, and I tell Abdul or Ashok behind the counter how helpful the nigh clerk had been and how nice everything was.
"You were in room 124?"
"Yes."
"There is nothing wrong with the air conditioning in that other room."
I surprised myself at this point. I took a breath and said, "Well then, you have a really nice day. Bye now!"
The sad part was that that was the best motel experience we had on the entire trip. That's my fault for trying to save money on the road.
Getting on the interstate. If there is no one on the other side of you, LET ME THE FUCK ON!!!!!!
1/4 mile? I've had them cut me off and turn 30 feet later. Most of my pet peeves involve driving. Like when you're approaching an intersection, again with no one behind you, and the person in the oncoming lane waits until you're 15 feet from them before making the left turn in front of you. Or when you're behind someone at an intersection and they have their right blinker on, there isn't anyone coming, and they refuse to make that right turn on red...even though there are no signs. Worse yet, you want to make a right turn and the person in front of you wants to make a left but are all the way on the right. It's little wonder why there is road rage.
