Well, that's the difference. The kid parties I attend are for other people's kids. ;)

I hated all of Tristan's birthday parties and I always just dropped him off at his friends' parties. My best friend invited me early on to one of her daughter's parties and I told her she could permanently mark me off that list. No amount of Captain is worth that.

Had my 3 year old's birthday party on sunday, worked out well...we don't do a lot, just cupcakes, pizza, ice cream. My in laws and a friend and her kids (8 kids total, 7 Adults). not too much rowdiness so it wasn't over barring or anything, THOSE are the good kid's parties.

Since in general I don't really like "people" as a group, I avoid social gathering events like the plague.
Most get togethers we go to revolve around our dogs and our rescue related activities, although even those get testy as many in the rescue arena around here are also progressives, dems or libs.

On the whole, nothing beats sitting in the recliner with Tasha or Nisa (Aussie and Border Collie) snoozing on my lap.
