#1 Sen. Lindsey Graham signals support for First Amendment restrictions04-05-2011, 02:18 PM
South Carolina U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham signaled support for restricting the First Amendment Sunday, just days after a pastor burned a Quran.
“I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we’re in a war,” Mr. Graham said.
“During World War II, we had limits on what you could do if it inspired the enemy,” the South Carolina Republican added. “Anything we can to push back here in America against acts like this that put our troops at risk.”
The calls for changes in the First Amendment follows the burning of a Quran by Pastor Terry Jones. The event, which received little media attention, caused a number of protests in the Middle East along with the killing of 14 people.

In a related story, Graham also proposed instituting the Jizyah tax on non-Muslims and the imposition of the rest of Sharia law, just so that the enemy wouldn't be inspired by our continued failure to submit to Islam.
Sadly, he's not up for reelection until 2014, but that gives us a few years to find a primary challenger who isn't an idiot.

I hope the good people of S.C. have enough good common sense to vote his dumb ass out of office when he comes up for re-election. I can not wait to vote out Mary Landrieu in 2014 also.

Terry Jones is a dumbass who is ignorant of the effects of his actions on the well-being of our troops in Iraq and Afganistan. It's also offensive to American muslims to desecrate their holy book. It's still legal for him to do so, though.
We shouldn't be changing the Constitution because some people express stupidity when they exercise free speech. It's not like it's a new thing that people say and do stupid things sometimes.

Free speech is only part of the issue; The real issue is dhimmitude, the subjugation of non-Muslims to Islam. When American politicians attempt to stifle free speech on behalf of one religion, he might as well start sizing his daughters for burkas. GEN Petraeus weighed in on the domestic and perfectly legal actions of an obscure preacher, but didn't comment on the far more vile public conduct of Michael Moore, Harry Reid, Teddy Kennedy and a host of others who openly gave support to our enemies by parroting their propaganda.
Instead of apologizing for the Mohammed cartoons, we should have been producing our own, only funnier and meaner. Instead of ragging on the Catholic Church, Lady GaGa and Madonna should show some real guts and rag on Mohammed. We should be dubbing the South Park Mohammed episode into Pashto, Dari, Arabic and Pharsi and dropping DVDs en masse.

Our enemy would love to see America subjugated under Islam and Sharia law. They would love to see American laws passed which prevented burning the Koran, which made women wear headscarves or worse, and allowed husbands to mutilate or stone them to death. Islamic leaders would love nothing more than free speech to be curtailed in America. You could make an argument that those U.N. guys who died did it while defending the right free speech. Using legislation to abridge free speech in the face of the events would be an insult to those who were just killed while defending it."In England a king hath little more to do than to make war and give away places; which in plain terms, is to impoverish the nation and set it together by the ears. A pretty business indeed for a man to be allowed eight hundred thousand sterling a year for, and worshipped into the bargain! Of more worth is one honest man to society and in the sight of God, than all the crowned ruffians that ever lived."

Nova, in WW2 Roosevelt signed Executive Order 8985 creating the Office of Censorship. It gave unlimited powers to the director of the office to censor any international communications. In most sports, cold-cocking an opposing player repeatedly in the face with a series of gigantic Slovakian uppercuts would get you a multi-game suspension without pay.
In hockey, it means you have to sit in the penalty box for five minutes.
