Back on topic---try to shop at smaller, local stores. I'm saving almost half the grocery bill by going to the Amish stores here.
Another tip, if you smoke, don't. Think of all the money you'll save. :D
You're right. Just because an item comes from a store that's supposedly low priced doesn't mean many of the items are really priced lower than elsewhere.
Case in point, I love Costco but sometimes they and the other big box stores are significantly higher than smaller places. It's lucky I have a stupid photographic memory for prices.
Just returned from my weekly trip to the Amish stores. I got more of the some peppers, mushrooms, cheese, zucchini, strawberries (2 quarts), blueberries, onions, rolls, horseradish cheese, sliced turkey, bananas and much more, all for about $30, enough for the week. It would have cost over double that at the regular stores, plus this is all fresh from the local farms or from Ohio.
