And the Republicans folded up like a cheap tent:

    US Congress agrees last-minute budget

Republicans and Democrats have reached a deal on the US budget, an hour before a deadline that would have forced the government to close many services.

They are now working on a stop-gap spending bill which will allow the government to keep running while the wider budget plan is finalised.

The parties have agreed to slash about $38bn (24bn) from spending for the year until 30 September.

No, the republicans didn't fold like a cheap tent. They got what they could get in a divided government including a ban on federal dollars for use in the District regarding abortions.
Anti-abortion lawmakers succeeded in winning a provision to ban the use of federal or local government funds to pay for abortions in the District of Columbia

Is it everything we wanted, no. However, we are in a better position now for the debt ceiling fight AND Paul Ryans budget proposal.

The Republicans wanted $60 Billion. The Dems wanted $30 billion. They settled on $38 billion. Who won?

If it were not for the troops losing a portion of their pay, I would say shut er down. I could not vote to do that. The Democrats had us over a barrel. Hopefully, a bill will be passed to avert that the next time around.

Well, at least Obama will have to pay the troops. That's probably galling him.

It really doesn't matter because we are headed for default unless drastic measures are taken. When that happens, it all gets defunded; all of it. All they did is inject more morphine into the festering wound. The time for having a choice in the matter will soon be at an end.
"Our president delivered his State of the Union message to Congress. That is one of the things his contract calls for -- to tell congress the condition of the country. This message, as I say, is to Congress. The rest of the people know the condition of the country, for they live in it, but Congress has no idea what is going on in America, so the president has to tell 'em." ~ Will Rogers
