I've been to a few different forums that have sections for debating the views opposing the mainstream of the Forum. Should DU3 have a special section where we respectful RWers and libertarians can debate us and we can debate them? They would be restricted to that one forum, but it might help us convince the more moderate ones. What do you all think?

This twerp better cough up some cash or get CA Peggy to do so...:D

LOL! I was just about to bring this one over here. These are always a hoot.
Olde-style, states' rights conservative. Ask if this concept confuses you.

    79. There are some that do.

A year or so back I was on Conservative Underground. I normally debate with some humor, and many of the regulars there enjoyed a little more light-hearted debate. The moderator wasn't as thrilled, however. He actually started a thread to see how many wanted to have me banned.

An overwhelming majority voted to keep me there. I even received several private messages and friend requests. Haven't been back in forever, though. Not sure what it's like now. The mods and heads were taking it in a very obvious teaper direction.

Talking Points Memo has always been open to opposing views, but things work differently there. The regulars were good at self-regulating, so the disrespect was never as over-the-top like it can get here.

I honestly don't think it would work at DU. Folks here aren't very open to discussing opposing views even from their own side.
    Start up the chisel.

The mods must be too stoned.

White_wolf...let me explain this to you kid.

What you're proposing will NEVER happen on DU because a Forum open to us on the Right would very quickly totally dominate DU to the point all other forums would mostly die.

And though the Mgt over at DU knows this to be true, they'd never admit it.

I'm surprised the Mods haven't locked this yet. :D

    92. Probably not a good idea

This site is nice to grab the latest headlines with discussion. Besides, these freaks don't understand what a civil discussion is. They will come in bloated up with the bullshit talking points. Once those are shot down they resort to name calling.

Happens on every other forum I visit.
haha, these guys have a lot of gall

If I remember correctly, back when I used to post here, they weren't even allowed to specifically mention this site. Am I wrong or has that changed?

I'd love to see it, but the GOP posters would most likely get dog-piled on regardless of how polite and civil they were.
When they cannot even be respectful of other liberals who have differing opinions, you KNOW that they are unable to be respectful of conservatives. Seems LanternWaste knows that as well.

    90. I should also add that at one time they were allowed here at DU in the early days...

It was an unmitigated disaster from what we've been told. Skinner and Elad purged DU of those types because of how bad DU had gotten as a result.

You let them in one place, before you know it, they're in every forum.

It's good to know those types will NEVER be welcome here.
This is more about DUers not being willing and able to tolerate hearing opposing viewpoints. DU is like an echo chamber and they restrict themselves to only hearing liberal talking points.

WHEN were Conservatives ever allowed at DU without having to hide their identity?

This ass hat is mistaking people who dared to have a thought that didn't agree with the Hive and were banned.

Anyone who spoke against Hillary? Lousy Freeper Troll.

Speak in favor of the military or give a positive image to what were were doing in Iraq? Banned. (R.I.P. TSLP)

Talk about a bad experience with a Union...GONE! ALERT ALERT ALERT!!!

What you have over there is the ones that saw what happened to freethinkers and realized that if they were to last they had to conform to the DU groupthink.

FWIW the banned and those that became disillusioned with $kimmer's version of the Third Reich formed their own new Hive:
