REPORT: Fox Promotes Birther Myth In At Least 52 Segments

Following potential Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's embrace of theories regarding President Obama's birthplace, Fox News has significantly ramped up its coverage of birther conspiracies. A Media Matters review of Fox News' opinion programs found that in recent weeks, the network devoted nearly two hours and 20 minutes to the issue, and in the vast majority of the cases, the hosts either espoused birther conspiracies or did not challenge or correct false claims about Obama's birth that aired on their shows. By contrast, when possible GOP presidential candidate and Fox News host Mike Huckabee similarly questioned -- but subsequently walked back - Obama's origins, Fox devoted just over five minutes of coverage to Huckabee's false claim that Obama was raised in Kenya.

And people continue to watch thinking they're actually getting the 'news'.... Pathetic.

    In fairness to Fox News...

Shepard Smith: "Fox News Can Confirm That The President Of The United States Is A Citizen Of the United States, Period"

Good for him and Mitt for sticking up for sanity and denouncing the bigotry.

What horseshit. Typical MediaLiars. Trump was all over every network spouting his nonsense. I saw him on Today and GMA and God knows how many other places.

Dumbass fucking butthurt Leftists at MediaLiars are utterly incapable of uttering the truth. Typical of Leftists: so full of piss and vinegar at the whole world that they're just blinded by their hate.

But, this is the kind of dishonesty we have come to expect from the door-dinging liar who claims to live at Wrigley Field.

That is probably why this whole ugly affair came to a head. As long as it was Fox and Fringe, it could be dismissed as Truther level kook. Once it hit the major networks, it had to be dealt with.

Except that Fox is a major network. The liberals' denial of same is amusing.

I was talking about their cable news network, not The Simpsons one.

Not sure what liberals (whatever that means today) have to do with it.

I don't think that conservatives even believe that Fox is "fair and balanced" news. They know full well that it is a selective echo chamber network for the right wing, but they justify it in their minds by saying "well the other side does it too".

People think that if there is no true unbiased network, then you should selectively choose networks that reflect your worldview, wrapping yourself in an echo chamber.

They have no desire to see the flaws in their worldview, they just want to endlessly act defensive. You can tell that someone is doing this when their reaction to criticism is always "THEOTHER SIDE DOES IT TOOOO"

OK, your turn: please cite the bias in Fox's news.

Rules of the game: if you cite Beck, Hannity, or O'Reilly, you lose immediately, because you'll be like every other Leftist: incapable of distinguishing news from opinion.

    GO!

Every single program. It's so blatant, in their choice of which stories get coverage, in their use of terms like "Obamacare"and loaded language, the guests they bring on the air are all stupid bloggers, the fact that they cite their own fox news polls in arguments, the absolute total lack of any real leftist perspective , the stupid false "arguments" they do where they bring a republican spokesman and a democratic blogger and act like that fairly represents "both sides" ( and this 'both sides' bullshit is just a ploy to keep people thinking in binaries).

hell the only thing that comes through 'unbiased' is minor weather updates and stuff like that

I'll make it simple: how many times are the words "Socialist" and "Marxist" uttered on air on Fox News? how many times do they have Socialists or Marxists on air to speak?

    there you go

On air right now is "America Live!", earlier they asserted that townhall videos from 2009 were organic, and claimed that democratic congressmen are "orchestrating" a movement to plant liberals in republican townhalls.

they skipped right over the subtance of the issue, the bils in question, and spent the entire segment asking 'if these organized democratic plants disrupting townhalls will ahve the same effect as the organic tea party people who influenced the health care debate".

sentences like that are used constantly on Fox, and carry so many implicit assumptions, and it is these implicit assumptions that are biased.
