People are starting to remember that this isn't fucking Mexico?
"Our president delivered his State of the Union message to Congress. That is one of the things his contract calls for -- to tell congress the condition of the country. This message, as I say, is to Congress. The rest of the people know the condition of the country, for they live in it, but Congress has no idea what is going on in America, so the president has to tell 'em." ~ Will Rogers

Plenty of it in the St. Louis area. Mostly just businesses trying to capitalize on it though.
In most sports, cold-cocking an opposing player repeatedly in the face with a series of gigantic Slovakian uppercuts would get you a multi-game suspension without pay.

In hockey, it means you have to sit in the penalty box for five minutes.

It is like St Patrick's Day. A day to drink beer no matter what your heritage.

There was a big bash in Detroit's mexican neighborhood yesterday. It probably didn't hurt that the weather was very nice yesterday and the Tigers had an afternoon game, which ended right around happy hour.

And, like the Mexican Army, the Tigers weren't expected to win and did? :D

We had a sedate Cinco de Mayo volunteer potluck lunch at Selby Botanical Garden yesterday. :D

There were a couple restaurants advertising the celebration yesterday with food specials, but there didn't seem to be too much press about it. With the economy the way it is around here, most of the Mexicans have left. You can't even have a good garage sale around here since they're gone. There's no one buying the stuff. :p
