So I decided to be a smartass on twitter. It's not my usual forum for debate.

I poked a liberal with this: ooh, a #HermanCain victory prediction...I like how you think.#turninitaroundonya

He responded : It would have been less far-fetched if you had said Jimmy McMillan. And no, it wasn't clever enough to warrant its own hashtag.

I said: well, if you leave a door open, it will be walked through. And as we have seen, stranger things have happened. #hashtagthis

He said: Stranger things than Herman Cain winning the presidency? Ok. Like what? (This is where you compare him to Obama, right?)

I said:Scott Brown took me by suprise, that's for sure.

He said: No one who was paying any attention thought it was strange. Coakley ran no campaign. Gloat fail. Try again.

Now, I remember the Special commentary Keith Olbermann ran, I remember Obama ran on Coakley's behalf and everything else. She was expected to at least squeak by. As far as i'm concerned, MA dems were taken by surprise. I'm not jumping through hoops for this asshole.

So, I said: please bring back my golfcart after you're done #movingthegoalposts . Bye.

And that's it. I didn't abuse or go any further. I gave a damn answer and if he doesn't like it, so what.

Of course, he didn't like it.

He then said: Deflect! Deflect! You're ABUSING ME so now I don't need to answer your question! Common teabagger tactic. Put up or shut up.

I said: I already gave you an answer, if you don't like it, your problem. I'm not your submissive, I don't respond to abuse.

I have an account on there but rarely look at it.

Can someone 'splain what is the deal with all the words with a # sign in front?

Are those words with # in front what you are calling "hashtags"?
What is the purpose of them?

Yep... #--->word is a hash tag. It works as a grouping or a search function. Like, if a group of people on twitter decide to congregate on twitter and watch Glenn Beck together, they would make sure to include #GlennBeck in their tweets so that the other watchers could communicate with 'em easily.

Or if you wanted to find tweets referencing #HermanCain , you'd search for it that way. :p

I read twitter for

• I honestly believe that Eliza Dushku can be redeemed, and I'm the man to uh, ahem, "exorcize" the liberal out of her.
• Sterling Archer, my personal, animated, hero has a twitter feed full of tips on how to be, well "duh" awesome!
• My coworkers set up a channel which we use to quote one another when we say stupid, out-of-context things that might be humiliating.
• Noureen DeWulf sometimes posts a heads-up about photo shoots, and she's a lot less moonbatty than most in the Hollywood crowd.

However, arguing on twitter is almost as bad as arguing with YouTube commenters. Let's just say that winning is like winning the argument is like winning the bronze at the special olympics.
