Mid 60's maybe rain.
Years ago doing a job in Mexico, I had dinner with a friend's family as I usually did when down there.
Great food except this time. They made chicharrones which is basically fried pig skin.
It was awful but everyone else enjoyed it and it was the mother's "speciality".
I got through it, as decorum dictated, by quickly following each bite with either a shot of tequila or a swig of coke. Don't now which helped better, but by the 5 or 6th bite, it didn't much seem to matter anymore.
TOTD: What is the worst thing you have ever had to eat to maintain good manners?

It is still raining here - this is amazing! It has now rained/snowed for well over 24 hours straight. This never happens to us. The whole experience is very exotic. :)
TOTD: There are a lot of things I don't like that I will be polite about eating in public or with friends. I guess one of the most surprising (and horrifying) things I have eaten is surströmming which is a fermented (i.e., rotted) fish preparation in Sweden. The first two or three times I encountered this I thought it was horrible and possibly Satanic. My cousins were all laughing their asses off.
Weirdly, the taste grew on me over time and I usually have them ship some cans over a couple of times a year now. Mr. Snaps makes me open the cans up outside and I may not bring the empty cans into the house or the garage.

I'm in New York City for a couple of days, where it's been sunny and warm, visiting my dad.
TOTD: Chinese New Year a few years ago with a friend's family (he'd married in, and he and I were the only non-Chinese at the table). They had a kind of sausage that was bright red with globs of clear fat in it, greasy too. I was avoiding it until the father offered me some, so I took a couple of pieces. Turned out that it was delicious.--Odysseus

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!

Another nice day, we're on a roll. It rained last night, but it's about 80 and sunny now.
TOTD: The last time I ate something to be polite, I ended up really liking it. The first time I had sushi, it was at my friend's mom's house and another guest brought it. Now, I eat it everytime I go to a chinese buffet.

TOTD: The "cooking" of my wife, and the two previous. But I knew how to survive!

My wife likes to try out new dishes and sometimes they aren't too good. I end up eating what she gives me and I don't comment until she does. The Obama Administration: Deny. Deflect. Blame.
