This is well on it's way to becoming Arizona's largest wildfire in history. 'Tis the season for our state to go up in flames!

Arizona fires: Wallow Fire continues to grow

Fire crews fighting the mammoth Wallow Fire face another day of winds and low humidity Wednesday, a day after the blaze continued its relentless advance and forced the evacuation of a major part of Eagar amid rolling power outages and reports of gasoline shortages.

The fire slowed overnight, with lower winds allowing firefighters to complete a backburn outside of Eagar and clear flammable grasses and bushes from the area, said a fire spokeswoman Wednesday morning .

Residents on the southern side of Eagar were told to leave Tuesday as the blaze pressed unabated toward the White Mountain town and nearby Springerville.

Electricity began cutting on and off in both towns Tuesday evening as officials tested the power grid, which they fear could be threatened by the flames. Gasoline supplies were reportedly running low.

The fire, growing by the hour, leapt farther north Tuesday and has now consumed about 389,000 acres, with at least 11 structures burned and 588 more threatened by the flames. Authorities would today and Thursday meet with residents of the towns most affected and discuss what structures have been lost.

And now watch the Feds ignore your state just like they have done with Texas.

    Oh,yeah. That's a given.

They weren't pleased with our state to begin with. Stepping on immigration-enforcement toes will do that. :D

Er ... what? You don't actually believe that, do you?

And no need for me to go into the Texas Leg gutting the Forest Service.

I heard that. Plus, you can now see it from space. It's all very sad because Greer and that surrounding area was so pristine and lovely. A definite loss for everyone.

I feel your pain Jendf. I hope they get the AZ fire under control.
We are still having fires around here daily. It's become such a
common occurrence that they barely make the news unless a
    neighborhood has to be evacuated.

He saw this post and it made him so mad that he was on TV tonight saying he would send them funding.

Oh, it's a ways from where I am. Phoenix to Greer is roughly 280 miles. Greer is (or was) one of those places the Phoenicians would escape to for long weekends. It was beautiful country.
