What kind of weapons do you have readily available to you at home? In reading another thread, I realized that I am virtually unarmed. Sure, there are some steak knives in the kitchen, and there is an autographed baseball bat in the living room, still waiting to have some kind of display case for it. I probably wouldn't want to get that bloody, but I would if I had to. But I don't have guns, or knives in my nightstand, or a billy club under the bed or anything like that.
Do you all have lots of weapons close by? Do you live in an area that you think you might need them? Yes, I know, every neighborhood has the potential for crime. I just don't think about it much, I guess.

A pistol in the wardrobe and a pump shotgun in the closet.
I also have a sporting gun but that really doesn't count.

A crowbar in the master bedroom closet and steak knives in the kitchen :o
I'd like to get a shotgun or inherit my father's some day. Nothing like the sound of loading a shotgun to would be home invaders.

There's a baseball bat and a can of bear-grade pepper spray right by the front door (it works with the decor, trust me). There's at least one knife in every room although it isn't visible. Loaded shotty in the bedroom. Every exit has a long, heavy steel flashlight nearby. Three dogs, at least one of which I could easily throw at an intruder.
And no, it's perfectly safe to leave your door unlocked and be gone all afternoon here. It's probably so safe because everybody has a loaded shotgun and a can of bear spray within reach. :p
We have other firearms, of course, but they wouldn't be of much use without 5 minutes of warning.

sig p220 in a pop box in the night stand. Loaded pump 12. stuck to gun magnets in the closet.
i highly suggest them to people.
I use 2 for the shotgun. Holds it firm high up above the inside of my closet door. One does not greet death when he knocks at your door.
Nay you repeatedly punch him in the throat as he slowly drags you away.

One must keep their weapons in tip top shape, so they neither go off too soon or too late! The difference between pigs and people is that when they tell you you're cured it isn't a good thing.
