I just found out I get to be an All-Star FanFest volunteer! There were 1800 volunteer spots and over 4000 applied so I wasn't expecting to get selected. I'm excited to be a part of the festivities in some small way! :D

    Elaborate please.

Are you going to be shagging fly balls during the home run derby? Or handing out souvenirs. Or picking up hot dog wrappers in the concourse?

All-Star FanFest is the big baseball expo (kind of like the NFL experience during the Superbowl) that's held during the week of the All-Star Festivities. Kids can play games, there will be lots of baseball memorabilia on display, lots of baseball legends on hand for autograph signings. I'm guessing I'll be handing out programs at the door or telling people where the restrooms are. It will be awesome! :D But I won't know exactly what I'm doing until I attend orientation 7/6.

For being a volunteer, I get a ticket to the FanFest (a $30 value! :p ) and I will get entered into a drawing for 2 tickets to the All-Star Game. I had considered buying a couple when they first went on sale but I didn't really need a second mortgage.

Good luck and I hope you get a sweet gig.

If it were up to me I would have you in the dunk tank.

There will be a lot of bats there. If you come, wear a helmet because you're taking one to the head.

Yeah, if you're boyfriend, dad or brother was swinging.

How much damage can a chick swing do? I'll take my chances.

As a volunteer, I've been offered the opportunity to buy "discount" tickets to the Home Run Derby. Cheap seats are $100 a piece. What do you think?

I wouldn't do it, and as you know, I'm a pretty big baseball fan. I had a chance to buy HR Derby tickets in Milwaukee a while back and passed. Don't recall the price, but it was probably pretty similar. Now the game on the other hand, I would highly recommend. Hope you can win that lottery.
