Yep saw similar scenes to that growing up in Minnesota. I remember one time out on a lake with my snowmobile and I had to hit the gas because the ice started cracking, it would popped as I was getting out and I saw water and Broken ice behind me.

I had the opposite problem. Was logging a well up in the OK panhandle and had to park on the side of the county road in about 15" of snow.
When I got ready to leave I had to sit there with the car running about 20 minutes to melt the ice/snow and get it to let go of the undercarriage.
