    Derek Jeter reaches 3000 hits

    Congratulations, Derek Jeter.

Not only did the New York Yankees shortstop become the 28th player in Major League Baseball to make it to 3,000 hits -- he did it with a home run.

Jeter became the first Yankee to achieve the feat during the July 9 game against the Tampa Bay Rays, right at home in Yankee Stadium.

He joins the ranks of such baseball greats as Cal Ripken Jr. and Honus Wagner as one of the only to reach the number. And he can now boast the extra distinction of being one of just 6 players to do so in 17 seasons or fewer.

The big 3-0-0-0 was Jeter's third home run of the season.

Got to watch it live with a bunch of baseball fans at FanFest. It was fun. And it seemed for a moment, everyone forgot that we are supposed to hate the Yankees. :D

I get sick of it when people call Jeter over rated. There are only 28 people in baseball to ever reach 3000.

    Go Yanks.

That's what has been so fun about this event. I have seen every team jersey here. I snickered when I saw the Pirates fan, but I digress. The great thing is we all love baseball. So it was pretty cool to see a rare baseball event with fellow baseball enthusiasts.
