Because bombing a nation even further into the stone age, and then just leaving will make everything better.

Take a look at what happened to Germany after WW1. Destroyed their country, demanded recompense, while imposing restrictions on them that would not allow them to rebuild, and then just walked away.

20 years later we got Nazi Germany.

Now, take a look at what happened when we instituted some nation building practices. After WW2, we stuck it out with Germany and Japan, after flat out crushing their countries. Instituted some nation building, and things worked themselves out.

man, get your head out of your ass, Germany and Japan are just one example. Just take a look at Hati, Philippines, Mexico, any number of Banana republics in the Latin America from the 1800's. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. we went in, crushed whoever was in charge then didn't stick around and rebuild came back to bite us in the ass.

Germany had to pay the Triple Alliance (England, France, Russia though they were pretty much replaced by the United States) recompense for damages during the war which in today's money equaled about 442 BILLION dollars which crushed the largest and most powerful economy of it's day. They didn't even finish paying it off until 2010!!. This lead directly to the Great Depression and the 2nd World War.
