#1 Is this the ultimate make-up junkie?07-27-2011, 03:03 PM
Most women will admit to owning more make-up than they need. But for one woman, her passion for cosmetics has spiralled out of control into a 30-year obsession.
Jennifer Bourgoyne, 45, from San Jose, California, has so many products that surfaces of her dressing table are piled high with lipsticks, eyeshadows and face powders, while drawer beneath are so full, not one will close.
Speaking on Good Morning America today, she told how she spends hundreds of dollars on new products each month - whether they suit her or not.
The fashion designer and mother-of-three said: 'I realise I have a bit of a problem, but, you know, part of it is being a girl. You get to have fun.'
She admitted she had made plenty of mistakes, but couldn't resist a bargain. She said of one such purchase: 'That orange lipstick looked hideous on me - but it was $20!'

Over the last year or so I've been making a determined effort to use up my toiletries and make up which were in danger of becoming a mini-hoard, but my stash was positively minimalist compared to this.

I'm not a makeup junkie. I have one each of the basics (foundation, blush, mascara), 2 eyeliners and 3 eyeshadow sets. I have my summer lipstick color and will get the darker one when it is fall. I don't bother with ridiculously silly things like nail polish.
I also only wear one type of perfume. I buy quality products of the things I only have one of, but I buy cheap eye makeup at Meijer/Target/CVS.

I don't wear much make up but I do buy Lancome when they have sample give aways. I love their lipsticks.
I use Avon moisturizes.

I don't wear foundation at all, but like a good moisturizer. I used Avon when I worked, as the Avon rep worked in my office. Now I'm using Olay Regenerist, which does a good job.
I have other eyeliners that I got with those product giveaways, but really only use one. When On vacation I don't take much, just what I use daily, moisturizer, one eye liner, eyebrow pencil and one lipstick. I threw out a bunch of old stuff when we moved. I have one drawer in a vanity in the bathroom with products, but hardly use any of them.
The person in the article sounds like she has a definite hoarder problem. Those beauty products have a shelf life. Probably most of them are bad by now. Probably if they show pics of the rest of her house, there will be junk piled up all around, not just beauty products.

I'm totally hooked on Aveda's Green Science line, but it is expensive.
Avon allegedly has an anti-aging product that is cheap and miraculous. I don't know what it's called. The last time I bought Avon was when I was a preteen and the only perfume my mom would let me wear was Sweet Honesty.

All this talk about moisturizer, the best one I've found, and the only one I use now, is Skinlogics® Gold Moisturizer I get it at beauticontrol.com. It is amazing, & I have very sensitive skin. Every other moisturizer I've used breaks me out like a teenager. Beauticontrol has some amazing daily facial products, & they're all age specific. I also use they're foundation & powder. Great stuff.Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
