Children raised in homes with cats during their first year of life have about half the relative risk of developing allergies to these animals in adulthood, researchers found.

In addition, males that grew up with an indoor dog during their first year also had half the relative risk of developing an allergy to that animal by age 18 compared with boys who did not have an indoor dog during their first year
Not surprising...I think all families should have pets...whether it be dogs or cats....Children need to learn empathy for animals early in life....This country needs more animal lovers.
