God, I can't remember what started the "Speak Truth to Power" craze.
Maybe it was Conyers?? I'm sure someone will remember.
I don't know who originally said it, but I never heard it until I moved to Detroit. I don't think Conyers was the first to say it-it's usually said in a politically motivational context-have you ever heard Conyers speak? He's not exactly a gifted speaker.
I suppose there was enough separation between the theft and running the kid down to make the run-down a murder attempt rather than legal defense of property and self, but I can't summon much sympathy...
