A group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals called B4U-Act, which has representatives from Harvard and Johns Hopkins, gathered recently in Baltimore to organize their push to change the negative perception of pedophiles and encourage them to get help in a nonjudgmental environment.

While B4U-Act is not representative of mainstream psychiatry, and while the American Psychiatric Association (APA) did not participate in the group’s meeting, psychiatry has a history of caving into cultural pressure to stop defining controversial illnesses as pathological..... You won’t even find ego-dystonic homosexuality—meaning, homosexual impulses that cause an individual to feel distressed and which that individual does not want to give into—in the DSM, anymore.

The APA decision was hyped in college textbooks, law journal articles, judicial rulings, and by 1974 pitched as high-school sex education. Soon the homosexist lobby would sail into primary schools and kindergartens by agitating recurring AIDS "prevention," "bullying" and "hate" panics.

To redefine homosexuality as a normal "orientation," nature not nurture, researchers were told to ignore all data of early sex abuse or other trauma...... This hoax was followed by the 1999 U.S. Department of Justice data that found 64 percent of forcible sodomy victims to be boys under age 12.

This is a small group of psychiatrists, not the APA. They are wrong, but as I pointed out in a past post, the upcoming new edition of the DSM V is allegedly going to have less emphasis on personality disorders, which I think is a mistake.



If I didn't know better, I would think your sources (FOX news and World Net Daily) were assuming that homosexuality, which was removed from the DSM in the 70s as a disorder, is equal to pedophilia.

That stuff is creepy. My 11 year old niece likes Abecrombie clothes. I told her she won't be getting any from me. She asked me why, and I said because they sexualize children. I bought her Aeropostle shirts instead, they are only trying to sell the beach/surfer lifestyle to children through their products.
