Original message Mission: Infiltrate Liberal Websites and pose as disaffected liberals with liberal-sounding username Edited on Sat Aug-27-11 09:52 PM by HipChick

"Anonymous" has struck again, this time leaking a confidential internal directive from Karl Rove's shadowy, billionaire-funded American Crossroads GPS outfit. It allows a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the Rove machine. Daily Kos is specifically mentioned more than once. I have posted the email here in its entirety. It's pretty chilling stuff.

    CONFIDENTIAL -- EYES ONLY

    Hello Gang,

You've all been working hard, and it's paying off. Obama's numbers are plummeting as I type this. Congratulations all around. But we can't afford to be complacent now.

I just want to briefly go over a few Mission Points with you.

    1. Main mission: Infiltrate all liberal web sites, posing as disaffected liberals with liberal-sounding user names, icons and signatures. (Reference Bernie Sanders, Dennis Kucinich, FDR, Smedley Butler, Bill Clinton, etc.)

    2. Express. Disappointment. With. Obama. (Whining pays double!) (jk!)

    3. Push primary challenge. Push third party. Push Green. Push Socialist. Push write-in voting. Push non-voting to "send a message."

    4. Effective memes/talking points:

    "Obama is a DINO."
"Obama is no different than a Republican."
    "Obama has sold us out."
"It feels good to vote your conscience."
"It feels good to stick to your principles."
"Don't be trapped into voting for the lesser of two evils."
"We need to punish Obama and the Democrats by not voting."
"We'd be better off with a Republican in the White House."
"Obama is a war-mongering, torturing, corporatist shill."

I simply cannot emphasize this point enough: No meme is too extreme or radical. "Obama is worse than Bush!" "Obama is a war criminal!" Remember: the reader thinks he is reading the opinion of a fellow liberal. It's all about peer suggestibility, people. Keep expanding the Overton Window. The more you push a radical notion, the more likely a slightly less radical notion becomes acceptable. Someone else said it this way: "The bigger the lie, the more likely people will believe it."
So take it over the top. Absolutely nothing is outside the realm of plausibility. "Obama is an alien from the planet Negron." I like it!

The OP later added an update admitting that he made up the entire "leak". He stated that his intent was to "show Kossacks" that their criticism of Obama fits perfectly into Rove's "agenda".

Interestingly, the OP unintentionally brings up a weird side point - that the progressives are concerned with infiltrators. Why would progressives be concerned with infiltrators if they speak the truth? What is there to infiltrate?

A good question for moderators/long-time posters - have their been liberal infiltrators in CU? I honestly can't see what a liberal or progressive could hope to infiltrate in the first place. Despite minor agreements between conservatives, we all pretty much agree on basic principles.

I just got done with a 13 hour shift so if no one can interpret my insane dribble I'll be back on tomorrow to clarify.

Whats better, many at the DUmp won't bother with seeing if it was made up, and will now re-double their efforts to route out "Moles" now that they have "Proof" of a "Rove Plot" and what to look for.

I don't believe anything I read on the Internet, only what I see on MSNBC. That's how I know that Rick Perry is a racist.

Probably, but so what? And regardless of what some morons say, Liberals are free to join here and post away. You're going to take some heat but...duh.

There are many retards that say CU is the same as DU. If you believe that, you are honestly too stupid to post here. :)

IN fairness, don't we all roll our eyes when we read a letter to the editor in which someone claims to be a Democrat or Republican who has had this huge change of heart and will now support the other side?

I don't know if that qualifies as a "bouncy" but it's in the same strain, isn't it? This kind of letter becomes more and more common as we move into the election season.

    Editor,

I have been a lifelong (insert Democrat or Republican here), having first voted in the presidential election of 19(insert a year since 1904) , but NO MORE! I cannot support a (insert communist, socialist, fascist, corporatist, military dictator, etc... here) . After reading that garbage collection will now be on Tuesdays instead of Thursdays, I will be making my (insert unlikely donation amount) check out to (insert Hitler, Betsey Ross, Barbra Streisand, etc... here) and voting for good garbage!!! - Leo Deloria, Plant City Florida

Clearly an Obamite trying to discredit any dissent within the Peoples Social Democrat Party. It lacked the necessary embedded authentication groups to be a real message to our operatives. I wonder how many DUers will think it is actually real, instead of a (Transparently poor) piece of propaganda aimed at ostracizing any non-Groupthink Dems and forcing the rest back into line?

And Big Guy, that would be "Erfquakes an' shit" in that Main Mission paragraph. Dead giveaway.

They'll refer to it as fake but accurate.
