I never even paid attention to the lyrics of that song. I hate the song. There was a Tim McGraw song that came out over a decade ago that was the most depressing song ever. Something about "don't take the girl".

Before you diss this song, you should take into consideration the traumatic effect of someone leaving the cake out in the rain. It's really not surprising this event inspired such creativity. It has mystery (what was the cake doing out in the rain in the first place?) It has a protagonist, (why, the person who took it out there, of course). It has intrigue, (Was it a chocolate cake? Angel Food? Carrot?) and a plot twist, (why won't the lamenter have the recipe anymore? -- was it left out in the rain as well?)
