    Cliff Robertson, a gifted and serious actor who was popular from the mid 1950s onwards, passed away on Saturday at Stony Brook University Medical Center on Long Island, according to Evelyn Christel, his longtime personal secretary.
    He died one day after his 88th birthday. His family said he died of natural causes.
