He got away with it with Hillary because the DNC wanted him to win and allowed it. But the GOP is not going to fall over dead for him, and now he's caught.
It is both fun and frustrating to watch at the same time. It is fun to watch this POS get his comeuppance. He played this kind of game all the time: was overtly and covertly sexist and was never called on it --AND--spent lots of time expressing fake outrage over alleged "racist" remarks like "articulate" and "RFK's assassination" and the Lyndon Johnson thing. Now he's getting a taste of his own medicine and THAT is satisfying. :):) :D
It is also frustrating because no one did for Hillary what the RW is doing for Palin. Only Gerry Ferraro had the guts and she got vilified for it.
