Would it help the US to nationalize the banking system?

TWould taking the chief financial business away from the greedy, too-rich-to-be-taxed assholes who lead the Pukes around like dogs help the country??

Are there enough people out there eager to show the baggers and the banks that we are not interested in a kleptocracy?

It wouldn't have to be permanent, but someone needs to be a parent and take away the toys of the bullies, to not only keep the peace, but to put us back on the right track. Would this help?

Maybe it won't help, but something needs to be done, and I (and I'm sure many others) am my wit's end to figure out a way to get past this very low spot and dark time in our country's history. I am ready to throw my arms up and just quit worrying about it all completely, move into the wilderness (if there is any of it left) and become a hermit. Quitting the technological world might be hard at first, but after awhile, it probably won't be much of a problem.
Yep. Liberalism...............it's all about hating the "rich" and hating conservatives.

One thing the Federal government is quite capable of is.............making things worse. As a retired Federal employee, I know that for a fact!

Some history should be crammed down some people's throat. Particularly the part about Andy Jackson's term as President when he finally closed down the Bank of America. Or was it Bank of United States?

Doesn't matter. We already went down that road once. Sucked.

In my entire life, I've never had a problem getting my mail undamaged, on time, and for low cost.

It was the 2nd Bank of the United States and he caused not one but TWO depressions by doing so.

So you've used UPS or FederalExpress your entire life? Right?

I don't see why anyone is talking about nationalizing the banking system. It's already nationalized in all but name. Just because the Federal Reserve is called a private institution, if it can make loans and insure risk on the back of the production of the taxpayer, it is *not* a private institution. If the Fed can lend to a foreign power in the name of the U.S. taxpayer, it is *not* a private institution. If the Fed is not insolvable until the government of the United States is insolvable, then the Fed is *not* a private institution. I swear, half the problem in this country with economic illiteracy is founded in mis-education and wrong headed ideas about our socialist banking system. This DUmmie must be illiterate. He doesn't like the system of finance he has......so he recommends that it be switched to the exact same system of finance which exists, only with terminology suitable to his liking? What is wrong with this asshat?

A pretty business indeed for a man to be allowed eight hundred thousand sterling a year for, and worshipped into the bargain! Of more worth is one honest man to society and in the sight of God, than all the crowned ruffians that ever lived."

'Twas painful in the short run. Does this mean you believe he should not have closed the bank?

The period after Jackson - talking 1840 to 1860 here - was a period during which the country grew exponentially. There was a panic in 1837, after Jackson left, and it lasted some years (can't think of another depression you are blaming on Jackson) but the country recovered nicely.

The Post Office will lose 10 billion dollars this year. If you had to pay actual rates you may not be such a fan.

But the Post Office does work, and I believe part of the reason for their success is due to competition from UPS and FedEx.
Without competition? I dunno. Doubt that a monopoly would work with postal service or banking.
