Enlisted Jan. 75 as an ASA Cook, Ft. Devens, MA. (Yeah, I slopped shingles.)
Reenlisted summer 1977 in the Army band program (euphonium instrumentalist).
Returned to Ft. Devens Apr 78 after the Basic Music Course, Naval Amphib Base, Little Creek, VA.
Ordered to Germany March 79, 1st Armored Division Band, Ansbach, Germany.
Ordered to Ft. Hood, TX March 82, 2nd Armored Division Band, Ft. Hood, TX.
Ordered to West Berlin, Germany, Jan. 83, 298th Army Band.
Ordered to Bad Kreuznach, Germany, Sept. 91, 8th Infantry Division Band, reflagged to 1st Armored Division Band after Desert Storm (Jan. 92).
Retired from active duty Feb. 95.

Highlight of my career was watching the Berlin Wall come down. Not necessarily a fun experience, but to be involved in some of that history was inspiring.

You ain't lived until you've seen communism, up close and personal.

A guy I work with was Intel in Berlin during those days. He says it was the most exciting time of his service.
In most sports, cold-cocking an opposing player repeatedly in the face with a series of gigantic Slovakian uppercuts would get you a multi-game suspension without pay.

In hockey, it means you have to sit in the penalty box for five minutes.

The 21st century. The age of Smart phones and Stupid people.

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Went thru ROTC. Was an E5/SMP (Simultaneous Membership Program) assigned to the SCARNG in 1980-82.
    Went active duty in 1982.
Spent time at Ft. Gordon, GA before being assigned to the 128th Signal Company in Brunnsum, The Netherlands.
We moved the 128th company headquarters the next year to Chievres, Belgium.

Got off active duty in 1984, spent the next 6 years inactive reserve.
