Higher taxes on the highest income bracket only applies to income above that level. The highest income bracket for individuals currently begins at well over $350,000.
If the tax rate on that bracket was raised, it would only increase taxes on income above that level. So, someone who makes just over the amount being discussed would only pay a tiny bit more.
Let's use the $200,000 mark as an example, if someone makes $220,000 they would only pay the increased tax rate on income above $200,000, or in this example, only $20,000. If the taxes were raised by 5%, that would only be an additional $4,000. That means someone making $220,000 would only pay $4,000 more in taxes than before.
The people who would see a real difference would be multi-millionaires, who generally speaking are not small business owners.
The image of the struggling mom-n-pop shop owners having to pay a lot more for outrageous tax increases is a myth.
As for health care, this would not be a problem if we had a single payer system. Businesses wouldn't have to provide health insurance for their employees.Originally Posted by Adam Smith - Wealth of Nations

Five seconds of my life I'll never get back.
Karl Marx? Really guys? Some of you really support a guy who wanted violent revolution against the rich and probably the middle class (since he didn't consider them back then). You support a political movement which advocated a vanguard for the proletariat? Really? Eeeeek!
Whah! There's now crap stirring emoticon. lol.

Tell us something we don't know. How does this change a thing? It misses the ENTIRE point. Money in the governments hands is DESTRUCTIVE to jobs - except that which is used for the very basic needs of society.
Revenues in the federal governments hands beyond that dedicated to the specific purposes enumerated in the Constitution is taken from the MUCH more efficient job creators in the private sector.
As for health care, yes it WOULD be a problem and Business WOULD have to provide health insurance for their employees, it would just be an indirect payment and it would cost MORE. Do you think it would be FREE to the businesses??? Are you really that naive?I long for the days when our President actually liked our country.
