Film shows McCain's release from Vietnamese prison

By MALIN RISING, Associated Press Writer
Thu Sep 11, 9:13 AM ET

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Swedish broadcaster SVT on Thursday released a previously unseen film clip purportedly showing the release of presidential candidate John McCain to the U.S. military in Hanoi in 1973.

A former SVT reporter, Erik Eriksson, said he found the video in the network's archives when he was looking for footage for a book he was writing about his experiences as a war correspondent in Vietnam.

SVT posted the edited 39-second clip on its Web site on Thursday. It shows McCain stepping off a bus with other prisoners. He has a pronounced limp but is not using crutches.

It then shows McCain standing in a lineup when his name is called. He walks up to salute and shake hands with U.S. military officers. The last part of the clip shows a U.S. Air Force jet taxiing on a runway.

I saw this earlier. McCain was a very good looking man.

DU is talking about the no crutches but they may have forgotten:

After release, McCain underwent three operations and other treatment for his injuries, spending three months at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida
    This is so sad:
Unbeknownst to them, each year that Jack McCain was CINCPAC, he paid a Christmastime visit to the American troops in South Vietnam serving closest to the DMZ; he would stand alone and look north, to be as close to his son as he could get
Imagine his dad starring over the border, thinking of his son.

That brought tears to my eyes.

And just think, this is John McCain after spending over 5 years in Hell. The photo that is posted often on Free Republic of him in his flight suit next to his jet is one in which he looks quite dashing. A manly, rugged type of look, not the dainty, metrosexual pretty boy look of Obama.
