The Devils beat my beloved Wings many times using a trap. It was very effective against the russian players like Federov, and against glory-hogs like Shanahan.
In other words it slows down the game and gives less talented teams a chance to beat there betters?

Find a way to beat it then. In most sports when an effective tactic is used coaches find a way to exploit it or beat it. Stop being a sissy!:D

You are not getting the point, that system RUINS the spirit of the game. GET IT? why do you want to be a part of a system that ruins the sport. Try not to be selfish. :D

It slows down the game. I wouldn't say that a team that uses it is less talented than the team they use it on, if it works for them. Some teams can beat it with even more speed, but it takes a total team effort. When you have a player like Brendan Shanahan (I know, I'm probably the only Detroit fan who hates him) who is always trying to be the hero and doesn't like to pass off the puck to someone who might actually have a better angle on the goal, the trap totally takes him out of the game.

The only other defense against the trap is to trap them back, but that usually leads to fights. Not that hockey fights are a bad thing.
