Hunt for gunman after AK47 bullet hits White House window

Clearly a right-wing extremist

A manhunt is underway in the U.S. for a disturbed gunman who is suspected of shooting at the White House with an AK-47 assault rifle and smashing a window.

Police said Oscar Ramiro Ortega - who is thought to have a fixation on the building - opened fire across a lawn from half a mile away then ran off.

When the White House was checked a round was found to have gone through a window and was only stopped from going inside by the bulletproof glass behind it.

A second round was found embedded in the exterior of the building.

U.S. Park Police said that before the shooting Ortega had been detained at an abandoned house nearby and had been spending time with the Occupy D.C. protesters.
