I don't think you can fairly compare the 2. As some said, I like both but Star Trek just that much more. I've been to Star Trek conventions, met some of the cast members(Troi, Scotty, Worf, Sisco) and really enjoyed their stories. Jim Doohan(Scotty) was a combat vet and mixed in some war stories. But Star Trek was deeper, more heady, because it was a weekly show and not only 6 two movies. I think the reason why some like Star Wars better was because there was more action. But Star Trek allowed you to identify with some of the characters and understand them. 7 seasons of TNG and I knew a lot about the crew and you saw some of them grow into good characters. For me, Phantom Menace and the re-do of the original 3 killed Star Wars for me.Deplorably Proud To Be An American

Star Trek seems more real and the writers spent a lot more time on continuity of technology. We now have some of the technology from Star Trek, it's as if they knew it was coming. Star Wars was more of a sci-fi fantasy where tech is mixed with magic. When Star Trek added too much magic, it started to suck. When Star Trek got all Alan Alda preachy, it definitely sucked.
Over all, Star Trek was great and so was Star Wars. I still sometimes stay up later than I should to finish a Star Wars movie that I have seen before. I will turn on a Star Wars or a Star Trek marathon for background. They have fairly similar lighting and audio continuity, which makes for restful viewing. Restful, not a total snore like golf. While you were hanging yourself , on someone else's words

At this point, they're pretty much a wash. Star Trek has had some great series and some utter drek, while three out of the six Star Wars movies are complete drivel and one is an extended teddy bear commercial. However, if the two universes ever collided, things would get interesting for the following reasons:
James T. Kirk would hook up with some very strange alien babes. "Where no man has gone before" would be replaced by "What is that and where does it go?"
Klingon/Wookie Ultimate Fighting would be the number one show on pay-per-view in either galaxy.
Harry Mudd and Han Solo would come up with far better uses for clone tech than storm troopers. Four words: Green Orion slave girls. That would give Jabba the Hut his money's worth.
Vulcans would make great Jedis.
Romulans would make great Sith Lords.--Odysseus

Before you can do things for people, you must be the kind of man who can get things done. But to get things done, you must love the doing, not the people!

Star Trek is hard Sci-fi
Star Wars is Sci-fantasy
Star Wars is much better though :D"Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings..." Patrick Henry
