And see now, if we attack them, oil is going to be used as the excuse. :(

There is nothing wrong with going to war to keep the commercial lanes and oil deliveries open. Stupid wars are about religion. Regular wars are about economics. Sometimes the two are mixed up, and sometimes both are present but one is irrelevant.

Surely "it looks better" to go to war for commerce than to go to war to put another knife in Islam. Besides, it's easier to beat people into economic submission than it is to uproot their stupid superstitions.

There will never be a shortage of oil but...... There will be a time when it is far too expensive to use for motor fuel.

Now just how far out is that? It's a total WAG for anybody.

I'm 70 next month, my kids are both over 40 and I expect them to see it. I might if I live to be 100.

Or a reason. Depends on how you look at it.

But please allow us a window into your thought process. In what way would Iran's possession of oil benefit the U.S. should we attack?

They are two sides of the same coin. Religious wars are not totally absurd absurd, they make sense against the background of economics. EVen the crusades becomes far more clear when the issue of economic power is laid over it.

Likewise, economic wars tend to carry an element of religious ideoloy. Even the wars that are officially not about religion carry religious undertones, or at the very least, include an ideological framework that mimicks religious belief.
