linkSamoa and Tokelau have skipped a day and jumped from east to west of the international dateline to align with trade partners.
As the clock struck midnight on December 29, Samoa and Tokelau went straight to December 31, missing out on December 30.
Samoa announced the decision in May in a bid to improve ties with major trade partners Australia and New Zealand.
It is not all good news as 775 Samoans have lost out on their birthdays.
The time shift was marked by ringing of church bells across Samoa's two main islands and prayer services throughout the nation.
Yet again I miss out on time travel. :mad::D
