It is the age old debate among sci-fi fans.

The video that kicked off the debate.

Princess Liea herself, Carrie Fisher, responds with her own video.

William Shatner takes a some pretty heavy jabs at Fisher.

Star Trek really inspired Star Wars but Star Wars was far superior and revolutionized the entire genre.

    Star Wars rules.

Fear not. She's done Jenny Craig and had a nip/tuck. :)

As I carefully explained to my wife:
It is simple, Sweetie. Star Trek was television. You know, Starship Enterprise, Captain James T Kirk, Spock. All that was just for TV.

    But, Star Wars really happened!:D

Please Star Trek is way better then Star wars. Star Trek was a glimpse into the future of what might become of the Human Race if we ever decide to stop killing one another. In a word Hope.

And there are no wars in the Star Trek universe? Did I miss something?

I was a kid when Star Wars was released, and to me and my friends, it was the best movie ever.

    Hunk factor:
Han Solo vs Captain Kirk=Han Solo. Even as old men, Harrison Ford is better looking than Shatner. Han Solo is funnier than Captain Kirk.

    Tough woman role model factor:
Princess Leia vs Lt. Uhuru=Princess Leia, at least in the second and third movies, when she fights. Then again, she takes torture in the first movie without giving up the Rebels' plans, so she is tough.

The worst thing that Lt. Uhuru faces is aliens who force her and Kirk to kiss. She has more style than Leia, though.

    Special effects:

No comparison. Lucas is the master.

But any contest regarding campiness would be won by Star Trek.

Star Trek was better. It was genuine science fiction with the context being necessary for the narrative.

Star Wars was a western. I figure Uncle Owen and his wife were sheep herders.
