Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) is suspicious about the newly released January unemployment numbers.

"Can someone tell me how employment in the black community has improved at a rate three times the national average in just a few months?? With numbers like today, urban communities should be well on their way to economic recovery then! There is something suspicious about the job numbers released today and it has me very concerned," West wondered Friday. "Is this dramatic supposed decrease in black unemployment a result of job creation or is someone playing around with the census numbers??"

Economists reached by The Hill for comment couldn't fully explain the unemployment rate change for the black community. William Darity, a professor of public policy at Duke University specializing in African-American studies and economics, wrote in an email to The Hill that the decline could have been due to a smaller labor force. He called the drop an "unbelievably dramatic drop" but didn't rule out the possibility of someone tampering with the numbers; he said there was no evidence one way or the other.

We can now add, "Cooking the books" to Obozo's resume'....

I don't know what to make of it. Cooking the books, as far as I know, would be very difficult, and the penalty for being caught - always something to consider - would be worse than awful; they would be fatal to a Presidency.

It could be that someone further down the ladder pushed some figures around in an overzealous attempt to make things look better. Lord knows there are plenty of those types employed by various government agencies, and if one of gets caught the stuff will get in the fan, big time.

It will make ACORN look like amateurs.:)

:( What the hell would you do?
I know some of those people just sat and let it happen, but there have to be many of them who are trapped with no job available and no way to get out from underneath a house to move and get a job......What the hell does one do?:(

Hope and Change is easy when you're a liberal. Simply claim things are better and sit back and watch your puppets defend your proffered lies and your obedient, adoring media spread them.

The feds have always played with the numbers, but Obama is more blatant about it because he knows that no matter what he does, the media will not cover it. Solyndra is a hurricane compared to the tempests in the Teapot Dome scandal. Obama's takeover of GM and brazen intimidation of the debt holders in order to give the lion's share of stock to the unions was blatantly illegal. His bribes to the various Democratic candidates to sit out elections (remember that he offered at least two of them paid sinecures on the taxpayers' dime) would have been front page news in a Republican administration. Fast and Furious would have brought down any Republican AG, but Holder continues to brazen it out.

Obama does these things because he knows that his lapdog media will let him get away with it.

They load up the rusted out GM's and head South were the Unions forced the jobs. They live out of their rust buckets until they can rent a trailer and work in a factory previously located in the Union/Liberal/DimoRat Michigan.
They proceed to vote DimoRat/Union/Liberal until they succeed in ruining the economy of the South by making it identical to their previously created cesspool.

I can't even fathom myself ever being in such a situation. A person is never trapped
unless it is by their own doing. I guess some are just naturally born with survival
instinct and know how to adapt and overcome, where others are prone to sit back
waiting and hoping someone will bail them out or things will get better on their own.

I guess I answered my own question. After talking with Mrs Starbuck and tracing back our own path we find that we did whatever was necessary and whatever we could.
There was some luck involved, but in the end when we were trapped, and her health was questionable and our industry (fabric) had collapsed I got a CDL and drove a truck 750,000 miles. But I didn't just sit there and let myself fail. And I see those who are allowing that to happen while they ponder their few options.
