Yesterday, Occupy Oakland moved to convert a vacant building into a community center to provide education, medical, and housing services for the 99%.
Translation: Yesterday, Occupy Oakland illegally took possession of a building that belonged to someone else and attempted to set up a squatters' camp for themselves. In doing so, they committed at least the following crimes:
- Breaking and entering
- Destruction of property
- Criminal trespass
- Grand theft
Meanwhile, somebody ought to organize a march in solidarity with the police. Participants will congregate in an orderly manner in the vicinity of a protest and provide backup to the police. The presence of a large crowd of police supporters would prevent the occuposers from surrounding the cops and provide a large pool of cell phones, cameras and other means of recording events that is not dependent on the occupiers or their lapdog media.
