Fresno police have arrested a high school student accused of stabbing her friend in what the two girls described as a friendship bonding rite.
Police say the two 16-year-old Bullard High School students had planned Wednesday's bloody ritual together. One had handed the other a small knife and agreed to be stabbed.
The injured teenager was treated by school staff before being taken to a hospital. She was treated, then arrested on suspicion of having a dangerous weapon on campus.
Police say her friend who wielded the knife was arrested at school on suspicion of having a dangerous weapon on campus and assault with a deadly weapon.
School officials say the teenagers could be suspended or expelled for bringing a knife to campus.
