    Stratfor isn't immune from drama.

It's all about exposure. That translates into $$.

I don't know if it's true or not (although I said at the time that failing to release the body would lead to all manner of theories about whether or not Bin Laden was actually alive or not), but if it is, I stand by the taxidermy recommendation.

Stratfor didn't release it, it came from Wikileaks, which was given Stratfor's hacked data.

Well, we all know that Bush kept bin Laden on ice in the basement of the White House. Apparently, Obama found bin Laden's body.

Olde-style, states' rights conservative. Ask if this concept confuses you.

Exactly why they should have released the photos and put the body on public display. We should have hung it from the Fallugha bridge for a few days to send a message to the other savages then set the rotting corpse on fire.

obama GOT Bin Ladin and still has him
I would not be surprised and I would not care. He's either in Area 51 or he's in a box next to where they stored the Ark of the Covenant.

Bury him at Gitmo. Then, whoever shows up to pay their respects, lock them up in Gitmo.

I read this earlier. The site I spotted it on isn't known for its conspiracies theories so I was intrigued. But the source article was shoddy at best. Did a little searching. What came up was this.

Stratfor’s vice-president for intelligence, Fred Burton, believes the body was “bound for Dover, [Delaware] on [a] CIA plane” and then “onward to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda [Maryland]… If body dumped at sea, which I doubt, the touch is very Adolph Eichman like. The Tribe did the same thing with the Nazi’s ashes.”

The whole thing is based on some very thin emails. Burton in some reports states he "Believes" while never saying he "Knows".

But the emails them selves don't support any of the claims.

The day bin Laden was killed during a raid on his house in Pakistan
To me, the emails kinda show the changing thought on what to do on that day with the body. Initially it was to be flown to the states. But later it was decided that it would be dumped in the ocean and be done with it.

My basic problem with the whole story is that there is no "Why" to it. What could possibly be in this for us? I cannot think of a single positive thing having possession of his body would accomplish for us, or even any faction of us, while the downside is that if we did have it and word got out, it could only work to the advantage of the enemy in their Islamist propaganda efforts. The entire premise just doesn't make any damn' sense.

Not that our allegedly-adult leadership doesn't randomly do stupid, pointless, and counter-productive shit for no good reason from time to time, but seriously.

I'm not going to bother trying to dig up all those news links. As this seems scattered over several different articles.

The basics of why it was going to be flown back to the States was first to do DNA testing to make sure it was Bin Ladin. Remember, he had lots of doubles. Then once the testing was done, to cremate the body, before dumping the ashes into the ocean.

I wasn't expecting links, it's more of a logic question. With the current state of DNA identification technology, and the minimal amount of physical material and sample care that it requires, it's just not a sound reason to bring the entire body back.

The one way I can see it happening it that the idea of what to do with the dead body was not something they had actually thought completely through in advance, and as things broke, they just followed the plan they would have if he was a secured but living prisoner.
