Mostly I ignore him. No matter what someone posts, if it doesn't agree with his delusional perceptions, he'll ask for specifics or challenge. I don't buy into it.

I think you're right here.

Chuck58, why do you feel that America is socialist or right on the cusp of becoming socialist? What does "Socialist" mean to you and what are the indications that we are there or almost there?

Keep in mind that I may disagree, and you're free to believe whatever you please, but I am curious as to how you came to your conclusions here.

Actually, thinking on it, progressivism fits better than socialism, although both are just about locked at the hip.

I see it as a cancer that began around the turn of the last century or a little before. The ultimate goal is the destruction of capitalism and individual liberty. We're seeing it happen. General Motors is partially government and union owned. Banks, commerce, virtually everything is under the thumb of one or the other government agency. States rights are ignored, subverted and challenged.

Government is growing and becoming more intrusive. The Constitution is being circumvented. Citizens in the 4 border states have lost some of their 2nd Amendment privileges. Buy more than 2 firearms and Uncle Sam is notified as to what, along with the serial #s. By any name, that's registration - under the excuse that the guns, above .22 caliber might be smuggled into Mexico, that rationale from the very government that did that very thing. And, don't think if they get away with it here in the border states, it won't become national.

They're using the unions, illegal aliens, the unemployed, the underemployed and those who are simply unhappy, dissatisfied or who think they are to achieve their goals.

Government owned mortgages,
Government controlled/paid pharmacy,
Government Motors,

I'm sure if you feed your brain some facts once in a while, you might have a moment of clarity whereby you accidentally realize your government is not the same limited size and scope that is was originally, or as it was originally intended.

One is the United States as it was just prior to the War Between the States, primarily the dream of the Founders. Ten is the United States as dreamed of by the Progressive Left.
