I suppose they do. Of course even the desk jockeys get deployed away from their familes. Many of those pentagon desk jockeys have been deployed both before and after their stint in the puzzle palace.
After a decade and two wars, few are those that haven't been deployed.

I experienced the first loss of a comrade shortly after I showed up at flight school. I was in his memorial service. Since then, I have attended many services and lost a handful of fellow aviators I knew personally.

I don't believe you can poll many service members that don't have similar stories.

Yeah, I didn't mean to be disrespectful with this. I just grew up outside of DC, where like everyone who I keep in touch with that still has a job is connected to the Federal Government either directly or as a contractor. And I think people who serve-serve in the military deserve the best my tax-dollars can buy, but there's a shit-ton of Federal employees that like... may technically work in some area affiliated with the DoD, or NSA or something... but I wouldn't call them "military" if you know what I mean? Maybe I'm just wrong on this.

retired military here and medical is cheap and it also is set up for the service member as you mentioned. Wait till she is in a retired status (if they go that long) and watch what the DOD is trying to do to us know.

This is the Dems...specifically the POTUS and the SecDef (brought in specifically to gut the military) doing this to US.

As I've painfully pointed out before...the ENTIRE DoD budget...including two wars is 4.7% of the GDP of this country.

Entitlement spending (welfare) is 15% and GROWING. And it will continue to grow if Obamacare is fully implemented and not repealed.

We are being gutted and sacrificed to pay for Obamacare. National Security is being tossed aside so the window lickers you hang out with at DU can get their free Government cheese. Don't fool yourself into thinking otherwise.

DOD civilians are covered under the federal civilian program. If they are on an active base, they can be treated at the installations there, but their coverage is different.

Another point though, is that if the government gets to dictate your health care, then one of the prices that you pay is that you lose convenience. You go to appointments at the convenience of the system administrators, because you lose any power of the purse. Narkos had that right, but missed the implications of it. What he missed is that when you point out that beggars can't be choosers, the whole point of Obamacare is to make us all beggars. We have to beg for appointments, beg for services, beg for medicines and ultimately beg for our lives. If Obamacare stands, that arrogant, down the nose look of his is going to be the face of health care, and we're the ones who he and his minions will be looking down on. Get used to that, because that's the world that he and Narkos want.

"Free health care" isn't free. Even if the economic costs were to miraculously disappear, it still costs us our dignity and independence.

That's what they want and WILL get.

The arrogant nose gazers like O Blah Blah have ensured that they are exempt from this "awesome and free" system that they forced on us. We minions get to beg and scrape for the scraps while those that are more equal than us get the top tier health care.

The drones that support O Blah Blah Care don't seem to mind that the very ones that forced this crap on us are exempt from it. They also gave waivers to those organizations (like Unions), who pour millions into Marxist coffers yet supported this intrusion into our lives.


Now where are those drones asking their gods that forced this crap down our throats, and those organiztions that supported but demanded and got waivers from it, are not lining up to sign on to this awesome Socialist paradise?
