I’m getting hugely fed up. My “internet” connection is highly erratic. I thought for a while that it might be partially attributable to the in-house network but I’ve got multiple sources of testing that strength and all of them show full network access from all over the house and pretty good from both the front and back porch. Weakest signal measured is still 80% or better.

Yet…. I’m sitting here now at 2:30 pm and the internet is “not available”. Now I have experienced the just-after-dinner blues on DSL quite often in the past. Everybody in the neighborhood comes home from work or school, sits down and eats and then hits the air waves – Overload!!!

This happen here several times a day and, as expected, 7-10 pm is the worst.

Now what I’m looking for is an app, a program, a meter – something where I can monitor that DSL signal speed/strength. i.e. Am I getting what I’m paying for from Consolidated?

    Ideas? Suggestions?
It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.
Live every day as if it were your last, because one of these days, it will be.

Have you checked with your IP? Maybe the server they have you on has too much traffic.
Obama isn't the problem. The problem is an electorate that would vote a man like him into office.

If it's highly erotic you're going to the wrong websites!

Don't go telling on me Rock!!!

I've called in on more than one occasion - the suspicious side of me wonders if they have a switch on the "customer support" phone line that automatically puts you in front of everybody else on your trunk - at least for the extent of the phone conversation.

It's just like taking the car to the dealer, it will never do the bad stuff when you're with the mechanic. Luckily on that one, I spent enough time with a wrench in my hand that I can direct him on what to look for even when it ain't going kerplunk, kerplunk, kerplunk.
