Man enters wrong Foster City house, gets shot

24-year-old South San Francisco man is in the intensive care unit after he allegedly tried entering the wrong Foster City house after a night of drinking and a visitor at the home mistook him for an intruder and shot him, police said.

Authorities believe the 24-year-old thought the house on the 600 block of Crane Avenue was his friend’s home when he went inside at about 4:20 a.m. Sunday.

A visitor at the house heard the man lurking outside and then enter the home. Capt. Jon Froomin said the visitor then fired two or three shots at the man with a gun that was not registered to him.

Police arrested neither the shooter nor the man, but passed the information on to the district attorney’s office to make a charging decision.

Knives are ineffective when your aim is to stop someone from doing you harm. If you can get close enough to use a knife you can get close enough for the other guy to knock the shit out of you...take your knife and carve you up like Hannibal Lecter.

Knives are a good last resort, when the attacker is already close to you and he doesn't have a gun. Especially if you don't use it to threaten him first, just stick it into whatever the most vulnerable body part you can access during an attack.

The best rule for any weapon you use is to never pull it out or show it unless you are about to use it.
