It is kind of interesting how the mistake was reported front page but the apology is hidden in the back.

Not interesting so much as typical. I believe that if a news agency is found to have libeled someone, they ought to be compelled to run the exoneration in the same venue, on the same page or time slot, with the same emphasis as the original libel, so as to undo as much of the damage as possible.

The funny and sad thing is that it's not going to matter. The race baiters are going to continue to run with this as a race issue and Zimmerman is still going to be portrayed as a racist white good ol' boy. The damage is done and they know it. No one reads retractions or apologies. They are boring in contrast to the salacious misrepresentations they are trying to remedy.

I think that the family whose address Spike Lee mistakenly twittered as the Zimmerman's address should sue the living daylights out of him. He was only apologetic because it wasn't George's family's address. He had no qualms about tweeting the real address, if he had actually had it. Spike Lee has done stupid things like this before, like when he claimed he saw Liz Claiborne on the Oprah Winfrey show telling Oprah that she didn't design clothes for black women. It never happened, because LC was never a guest on Oprah's show. But several of my black friends believe it happened to this day, one even claims she saw the alleged episode.


Whatever happened to Trayvon Martin, even if it is manslaughter on Zimmerman's part, justice is not served by a mob. Yesterday was the anniversary of Dr. King's murder. His family never called for the murder or execution of James Earl Ray. I wish Sharpton and company would keep this in mind when they speak to angry crowds.

But what they will claim is that it wasn't libel since he actually said "He looks black". They can get away with this behavior because he actually did say what they went to air with. They can claim ignorance and fire the editor for his/her "error" and all is well.
