Extended child tax credits and marriage-penalty fixes

Created an Advanced Manufacturing Fund to invest in peer-reviewed manufacturing processes

Required economic justification for tax changes

Implemented “Women Owned Business” contracting program

Changed standards for determining broadband access

Established a credit card bill of rights

Expanded loan programs for small businesses

Extended the Bush tax cuts for lower incomes

Extended the 2007 Alternative MinimumTax patch

Closed the “doughnut hole” in Medicare prescription drug plan

Expanded the Senior Corps volunteer program

Required insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions

Gave tax credits to those who need help to pay health premiums

Required large employers to contribute to a national health plan

Required children to have health insurance coverage

Extended the Bush tax cuts for lower incomes

How is extending a predecessor's policies reason to re-elect an official from a different political party? Is the implication that Obama's Republican opponent wouldn't have extended Bush tax cuts?

Directed military leaders to end war in Iraq -- this is like saying I'm a great CEO because I directed my employees to "make more money." It's the same fallacy as my previous post. The implication is that alternatives to Obama would instruct the military leaders to prolong the w
I skimmed through this to pull out the funny ones.


Encouraged farmers to use more renewable energy and be more energy efficient -- What does this even mean? Is it even the President's job to encourage private entities to run their business in a particular way, and even if one accepts this, how does "encouraging" them do anything. "I am a great teacher, I encouraged Billy to get good grades." Once again, the implication is that alternatives to Obama would encourage farmers to be less energy efficient.

Created a White House Office on Urban Policy -- Which has done what exactly? Is creating new offices now a metric of a successful politician?

Invested in all types of alternative energy -- Any of those investments pay off? "I'm a great hedge fund manager, because I invested a lot!"

Supported high-speed rail -- Which is where exactly?

Killed Osama bin Laden -- This is actually really interested. Because when something produces no results, it's "Directed blah blah" or "Encouraged blah blah" but when something actually happens, it's directly attributed. Why not "Directed the CIA to focus efforts on finding bin Laden, and then authorizing the mission to raid his compound"?

Reviewed weapons programs -- Ahaha... if Bush was the Decider-in-Chief, I guess that makes Obama the Reviewer-in-Chief.

Urged China to stop manipulation of its currency value -- Urger-in-Chief


This one really irritates me:

Created new criminal penalties for mortgage fraud -- No, he didn't. I was just reading a Slate article earlier today talking about how Obama gave them all a pass, or small fines that they just paid with bailout money anyway.

Pressed China to end its support for regimes in Sudan, Burma, Iran and Zimbabwe -- Asker-in-Chief
