For the same reason that they don't discuss it in the Obama campaign headquarters. Come to think of it, I'm sure that there's quite a bit of overlap between the two.

The first NATO summit in the USA since the 70's (something like that, its been a looonnngg time) is here in Chicago in a few weeks... shit like this needs to be dealt with swiftly. If these guys want to start getting violent law enforcement and residents need to act appropriately in response.

Neither Obama nor Emmanuel want any problems at the NATO summit, in their hometown. I suspect that there will be a full show of all levels of law enforcement-city, state, and federal.

The Chicago Police may have a lot of corruption, but they also will not tolerate a bunch of crap when the whole world is looking at their city. If OWS really wants a repeat of the 1968 Democratic convention, I'm sure CPD is willing to give them what they want.
