Bob Barr wants McCain, Obama off Texas ballot
Libertarian Party nominee sues, saying they missed the filing deadline

    Tuesday, September 16, 2008

WASHINGTON — Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr’s campaign filed suit Tuesday seeking to remove Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama from the ballot in Texas, alleging that the two major candidates missed the deadline for officially filing to be on the ballot.

The lawsuit by the former Republican congressman from Georgia claims that neither McCain nor Obama met the requirement of Texas law that all candidates provide “written certification” of their nomination “before 5 p.m. on the 70th day before election day,” because neither had been formally nominated by their respective parties in time. The suit was filed in the Texas Supreme Court in Austin
This is bigger than presidential politics. This is a battle for America.

This is hardly fair. I'm sure if the Libertarians or any other third party missed the deadline, the Republicans and Democrats would be more than understanding and allow them on the ballot anyway.

feeb, you proved to be equal to your name. you obviously didn't read the article

The Austin American-Statesman, however, reported that the Texas Secretary of State's office said earlier this month that McCain and Obama would be allowed on the ballot. An official said the Republican and Democratic parties made filings before the deadline and later supplemented them.

Are there any Libertarians, Greens, Constitutionalists, etc...elected to congress or governor (or mayor)?

Maybe these guys should start out at the local level, build a base and then try to play on the national field.

These guys are trying to hit a homerun when they're playing hockey.

Just because I don't vote doesn't mean that voters don't provide endless entertainment.

Besides, you aren't voting in this one either.
