I don't want to surprise anyone too much, but this IS a fictional character. Only a cartoon, in fact.
Yes, it is. And so were the characters in Uncle Tom's Cabin, To Kill a Mockingbird, Aesop's Fables and a host of other works of fiction. Some might consider them somewhat influential.
I probably wouldn't care if it were a new character, but the Earth 2 Green Lantern was one of the first comic characters that I ever saw when I was a kid (my mom's library had Jules Feiffer's history of the comics, which included the origins of Green Lantern, the Flash, the Specter and a bunch of other characters), and he wasn't gay for the first sixty years of his existence. These kinds of reboots alienate anyone with any memory of the character and don't attract new readers. I also really loathe PC reboots that are meant to make the editors look hip, regardless of what they do to the character.
Should have been Aquaman.
Exhibit A:
2 things. #1, forcing someone to accept something that they don't believe in is not tolerance. Take your view of Christianity. You are a total hypocrite and yet you don't see it which is typical of liberals like yourself. You bash conservatives and Christians with every breath you can muster with the same bigotry and hatred you accuse us of having. But this is to be expected because people like you like to think you have an open mind but the minds of the left are as closed as a new jar of pickles. 2nd, Ryan Reynolds played Hal Jordan not Allan Scott so your attempt at snark fails miserably.
It was going to happen sooner or later.
The fact the superhero is over 70 years old might find him needing Viagra.
